We are pleased that Nick Duffett has joined the James Cook seastaff team, for his first season in our Cadetship Programme.  He will be mentored by Oscar who has returned for his second season of the programme and is now our senior cadet. Nick comes from a sailing family and has sailed on James Cook several times before as a member of crew.

OYT North Career Development Programme is an internship, structured over one or two sailing seasons (March – November), to bring together the necessary skills, experience, and qualifications for participants to embark on a career in the maritime industry. Previous graduates have moved into successful careers within Sail Training and a range of maritime organisations or have used their experience as an ‘alternative means of entry’ to college or university.

It is a great way for young people who take part in an ‘Adventure under Sail’ to continue to engage with the Trust and further their personal development.
